UPDATE: Alvin Greene and SC Dems “Staying Together”

By Sweet P

In the latest news out of the Palmetto State, U.S. Senate candidate Al Greene is picking up momentum. The guy even has the attention of Ann Coulter, who wrote a very entertaining article about Greene and dirty tricks in elections. She suggests that Alvin Greene would make a better Senator than current Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy. There is also news that, despite being a mystery and coming out of no where to win, the ability to challenge the election results appears to have hit a wall and will be sorted out by legal teams. Knowing how lawyers like to string things out, I’m sure it will only take a day or so, right? This Washington Post article has some great stuff in it straight from the hearts of South Carolina voters:

“Here’s how it happened, I’ll be honest,” he begins, eyeing his hamburger at the restaurant in a Piggly Wiggly grocery. “In between work and lunch, I went to vote. His name was at the top of the ballot. And I just voted for him. Didn’t find out anything about him until I saw him on the news for that sex investigation and I said: ‘Lord have mercy. I voted for this dude!’ “

“I voted for him, to be honest, because he had the same last name as a friend of mine,” she says. She shrugs her shoulders. “Listen, our governor went to Argentina to see his mistress with my tax money. Alvin Greene is just falling into the South Carolina scheme of things. He’s being a politician.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

UPDATE: I just came across this piece on TIME.com. The best thing about it is this guy is a savvy politician regardless of his sometimes awkward social mannerisms.

Suddenly, the television flashes Greene’s face, as a Fox News announcer teases an upcoming segment asking about the newbie’s “mental state.” This gets to Greene, who is tired of being treated by the press like a carnival act. “What about everyone else’s mental state?” he asks, before breaking into a chuckle. “It seems like things don’t apply to me. I’m the nominee, and 60 percent isn’t 60 percent anymore.”

He has plans, he says, for more funding to widen roads and create jobs, for more money to train teachers, for reforms that would curtail long jail sentences for first-time, non violent crimes. He is back on message again, doing what he has always wanted to do, if maybe not exactly quite like this. “My campaign slogan,” he says, “is ‘Let’s Get South Carolina Back To Work.”

Someone get me this guy’s number. If he’s already got plans, I could take him to the top.

I don’t think it really has anything to do with the memory sticks or the reader itself because when the USB is plugged in the sticks, reader and unit seems to work just as it should but when it is unplugged the issue is again apparent.
